More extensive hive inspection

So this time I removed the honey super and the middle box from the hive. I peered into the depths of the hive and I saw mostly capped honey and a few capped brood cells but not many of the latter. I think my hive is queenless!
Bee Hive Inspection After Yellow Jacket Hornet Attack!
Переглядів 872 роки тому
The other day I saw some brutal battles going on between my bees and a group of yellow jacket hornets. I even saw the yellow jackets carrying off some of my bees to be used as food for their larvae. Fearing they might have decimated by hive and killed my queen I went in to inspect it today. This is a video record of what I found.
Colony in decline?
Переглядів 132 роки тому
Today I observed yellow jacket wasps attacking my hive and carrying away bees to feed their larvae. I noticed significantly fewer bees today than I had a couple of weeks ago and I am wondering if my colony has become queenless!

This is a video taken during my monthly hive inspection. Please excuse the poor cinematography as it was difficult to film while in a full body bee suit.
Honey bee raiding party? Fights break out!

I think these bees are fighting off a competing colony raiding party!
What are these bees doing?

Just curious about what is going on with this hive in the evenings. I see this almost every day around 6 or 7 pm ET. Is this something I should worry about?

Strange Bee Behavior 06/20/2021

As you can see I now have a fully functioning bee colony in my garden. I will make a detailed video about them soon but just wanted to post this to the channel so my subscribers can have a look at them. It's not much I admit but it has been a long time since I posted something to the channel (a situation I hope to correct soon) and I thought you all deserved better than that.

Midwinter Mango Citrus Apple Discussion
Awesome video, this guy seems like he's dedicated to everything that he did.... Good memories of him ❤
That was funny... Mom was clapping to get his attention and he looked at her.... She probably wanted to go somewhere..lol or maybe doctors appoinment.
Beautiful, what fertilizer you used
Is the flowering branch below the graft? If so the fruit will not be the variety of the fruit you intended and which will be present above the graft
I do miss him....and my mom ...love you guys where ever you are
i’m not sure I’m understanding you correctly. What is the name of the avocado tee. Day.
Awesome
Nice yard. ..for Martin's 60 feet from trees/30 to 120 feet from human housing. Try gourds.look up purplemartin conservation .there based out of pa.nation wide organization . There web site purplemartin .org

With deepest condolences to the Casero family. R.I.P, Juan.
R.I.P., Juan.
Oh, I had questions sorry to hear this about your friend / loved one
dude... you need to improve your videos... it took 5 minutes just to try the dang avocado & then you season the hell out of it so it tasted like olive oil, lemon and salt. come on, youre better than that
Well I know where I’m not getting my trees haha thanks for the review
What type of plum is this?
Plums need cross pollination to set fruit?
Nice Grove dude! Much luck with it 👍
How long did it take for your mango treee to get big ?
Very beautiful.🙏Respect from India.
Worst video/s ever. This was supposed to be a simple video about the taste profile of a Brogdon avocado, and do you know what we got? Two videos, because you think we care about how it looks and how to get the seed out. Then, when, after nearly two full videos, you finally actually eat a piece of it, you give a thumbs up like that's supposed to tell us something. Is it oily? Is it nutty? Is it rich? Is it sweet? Holy shit man, these videos are just the worst!
The 2022 leafhoppers took out my Starkbros Santa Rosa, I replaced it with a 7ft'er from FastGrowingTrees. Both companies supply trees to my local big-box stores. IMO there isn't much difference in quality, Sbro sent mine with a 3-4 inch shovel cut in the root-zone & [not complaining] FGT broke 2ft off the top b/c the huge tree was slightly larger than the box but it was still taller than what I purchased even with the damage cut off.
Fastgrowingtrees is a good company for ordering online
How old is tree
Did you cut the tree to knee hight when you planted it? Wondering how you got all that nice low branches.
Persian lime requires more work. Has some brown spot w yellow ring in it, starts off w bumpy dots
Santa Rosa plum should be self fruitful.
Lindos los arboles frutales
Nice tree
So your soil composition is very loamy and fast draining? Thanks for your time and expertise!🙏
Sort of. It is a mixture of clay and sand but mostly sand. Not all parts of the garden have the same composition either. Some sections have more clay than others. A few years ago I took random PH samples around my garden and it varies from 7.0 to almost 8.0. So far I have not seen a measurement above 8.
Hi Sir, do you still have the tree ?
Hello. We the people would love to see an update on your brogdon, day, and joey avocados.
Update on your tree?
I buy at figbid. Cuttings and small fig trees. Had good success. I just bought LSU hollier.
Is the brogdon planted in full sun? I’m in San Antonio just bought one and I’m dying to plant it on ground but not sure where in my yard to plant it I have shaded areas close to my 20 year old pecan tree or next to my house on the south side but it gets full heating sun the majority of the day. I just planted some bananas there but I’m protecting them from the sun right now at least until it gets strength
Sorry I took so long to respond. It may not be helpful to you at this point but yes the Brogdon likes sunlight *but* as with any Avocado the scorching heat of the Southern sun can damage the young shoots. In fact I lost a Joey avocado tree that way. It was planted next to my Brogdon but the scorching sun from a couple summers back burned all the shoots and it died. The Joey was younger than the Brogdon so it did not have enough branches and leaves yet to form a protective canopy. So if your Brogdon has enough canopy you will probably be alright putting it in full sun. Once the young shoots turn woody they will be able to resist sunburn much better.
And also cinnamon can help with your issue Stir some cinnamon into warm water and allow it to steep overnight. Strain the liquid through a coffee filter and put the results into a spray bottle. Spray the stems and leaves of affected plants and mist the potting soil in plants that have a fungal and mushroom problem
I hope my advice That I took from an old gardener in the middle east Would helpI you and i think it might be useful for you , my advice is go and buy yourself a ( neem tree ) take and the 10 leaves from the tree and boil them in a liter of water after that crush a 2 fresh garlic and let it sit in it for at least an hour and then strain it add A little of dishwashing soap and then spray your plant 😊neem treats fungus . Ps : i prefer to use The name leaf tea instead of Neem oil because Neem oil can burn your plant it can be too harsh to it )
Ever tried placing bags of crushed ice at the base of apple trees several nights during winter months (Dec/Jan)?
I haven't but one of my acquaintances from a local garden club has. He says it had the same effect as stripping the leaves off the tree. That is if forces the tree to go dormant and pull the sap back into the roots. But to be honest though I have just about given up on apple trees in my zone (9b). Except for an Ashmead's Kernel which seems to be thriving in our area and one other low chill crabapple all the rest of them have died or are dying. Surprisingly I have found the pears can do much better in zone 9b than apples. Maybe that should not be such a surprise as pear trees are ubiquitous in the American South.
What county in Florida do you live. I live in Putnam County around Palatka at it's 9A or 9B and my Shiro and my sant a rosa won't produce plums and they should because they are close to 5 years old
I am about 3 hours south of you in East Central Florida. I too am having problem with my plums. They are supposed to be self fertile but I have found the opposite to be true. The only time I got them to set fruit was when I manually pollinated them a few years back. I have already lost one Santa Rosa to fireblight and it looks like my biggest Shiro also has it. So I expect I will eventually lose all the plums in my garden.
What part of Florida do you live. I have 3 Santa rosa plum trees and none of that are growing fruit and one of them is 5 or 6 years old and I live in Interlachen Florida Starke brothers said it has to have 500 chill hours

How many trees do you have in that space there? Wow😮👍
I used to have about 83 trees. Right now though it's probably more like 50 or 60. I am losing some trees though. I have lost a good number of apple trees, a plum tree and a few peach trees. This winter when the temperatures cool down I will be removing two apricot trees and two peach trees. I am not replacing those I remove though as I need to cut down on the number of trees in the garden. It is becoming a nightmare to maintain them all.
Nice video, lovely set up for your bees :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice inspection video :)
Glad you enjoyed it
If it is robbing the bees will making a lot of noise. I hope your bees are okay.
Saya tidak bisa melihat dengan jelas serangga apakah yang berada di kotak itu,...tetap semangat dan sukses kawan
There is DEFINITELY a GRAFT V cut in you LSU "Gold" tree! Did any figs form on the top branches?
I have always wanted to raise bees, but everyone else in my family is too scared of them.
I had the same problem. They do take some work so it's not like you can just get them and then just ignore them. My biggest problem so far is other colonies of wild bees coming to raid my colony and steal their honey. Also, when the bees find themselves low on food or nectar just like humans they can get cranky and aggressive. We call that being hangry....a term used to denote angry because your hungry. So when the nectar stops flowing locally I go ahead and feed them a sugar/water solution in a 1:1 ratio. I am waiting for next spring to see if my bet pays off. Namely that I will have much better fruit set in my home orchard as a result of establishing this colony of bees. If it doesn't pan out then I am considering donating the colony to my local beekeepers club instead.
@@caseroj6020 you have a beautiful piece of property. I love your orchard. Good luck and I hope your investment pays off greatly! 🐝
From the fungus need to use bordeaux mix. Applying on the autumn. Should all been blue color after sprinkling. And I think you need to prune trees more intensive. Will be better harvest. Thank you shearing about star bros. 🤗
I had a Granny Smith I started growing in partial shade. The first time it started fruiting, the fruit got up to quarter size and the apples just disappeared! They didn't fall off. I think a squirrel got them. Also, trying to control the ants was a nightmare.
